Young Thug experienced one of the most trying years of his life after his unforeseen arrest on May 9, 2022. He has traded in his opulent lifestyle as a rapper for a prison cell without access to his former comforts. He's also lost some of his closest friends. His relationship with Gunna appears to have soured. This comes after the singer of the DS4EVER hit chose to enter an Alford plea in their RICO case. He has faced difficulties elsewhere due to the passing of close friends and family members.

On May 13, just a few days after Thugger was imprisoned, Lil Keed, a YSL artist who was fortunately exempt from the probe, passed away sadly. The "Freak" artist, who was only 24 at the time, reportedly passed away from eosinophilia. Lil Gotit, the late recording artist's brother, previously spoke about how he rushed the late celebrity to the hospital to help. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save Keed. Now, Young Thug must deal with the abrupt death of his older sister, Angela Grier, which is even sad news.

At the end of March, Dolly White, another sibling of the artist who is imprisoned, made the announcement. The circumstances of Grier's death are unknown at this time. But, according to recent accounts, her brother was supposedly given a short-term release from jail so that he could attend her funeral. There are no available images of the incident. Many Young Thug fans were relieved to hear that he had reportedly been released, even if only for a short while. In reaction to the initial message, one Twitter user commented, "Awwww I was hoping they would." "Yes, they did, lol. The same account stated that N*gga was dressed in a suit and Air Force 1s.
